South Korea’s Forest Coverage rate acquires more than 63% of the geographic territory, placing 4th among the OECD countries. The majority of the forestry continues to increase into aged trees (21-50 years), and a well-structured initial response to forest fires has become a crucial agenda. According to the ‘National Forest Fire Comprehensive Countermeasures’ issued by the Korea Forest Service, the golden time for forest fire extinguishing is within 30 minutes, and will increase the capacity of fire fighting helicopters in order to extinguish the fire efficiently at its initial stage.
